Putnam General adds pulmonary rehab specialist

Putnam General Hospital (PGH) recently welcomed Janet James, RRT/RCP, RPSGT, to its pulmonary rehabilitation team.

The pulmonary rehabilitation program at Putnam General Hospital is designed for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. PGH’s physician-directed program provides patients with individualized treatment plans that include diagnostic testing, therapeutic exercises, educational training, and an outcomes assessment.

Upon completing the program, patients are frequently amazed at how much their breathing and exercise capacity have improved.

James has been married for 40 years to her husband, Mike, who co-owns Adams Acres Riverside Events, a wedding venue in Milledgeville. They have a 26-year-old son and a 31-year-old daughter and enjoy lake life and boating.

James graduated from Athens Area Technical College in 1994 with a degree in respiratory therapy and shortly after was registered in the sleep field. She previously worked at Athens Regional (now Piedmont) and Emory Hospitals and has experience in both hospital and home healthcare respiratory and sleep labs.

A physician referral is required for admission to the PGH Respiratory Care & Pulmonary Rehabilitation program. Patients needing assistance with a referral can call PGH at 706-9232152.

Medicare and most insurance plans pay for respiratory care and pulmonary rehabilitation services, but patients should check with their plan administrators to learn more about available benefits.
