Over the past several years, Coldwell Banker Lake Oconee Realty/Lake Country has collected more than 10 tons of food for local needy families and this year they would like to set a new record.
Donations will be divided between Putnam, Greene and Morgan Counties in order to help the tri-county area with replenishing their food banks for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons.
Putnam County Life Source assists 300-plus families that receive an estimated 40 to 50 pounds of food each per month.
Greene County Food Pantry currently assists more than 350 families once per month, plus each of these families are provided a turkey and all the trimmings at Thanksgiving and a ham with all the trimmings at Christmas, and The Caring Place in Morgan County assists approximately 200 families with a box of food each week.
If you would like to donate food, drop boxes are located at the Coldwell Banker offices alongside Linger Longer Road in Greensboro and on Main Street in downtown Madison. Non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta, and canned vegetables and fruits can be accepted, but monetary donations (preferred) typically purchase three times the amount of food and can be designated to the county of your choice.
