An Eatonton mother was flown by medical helicopter to an area trauma center following a single-car crash on Pea Ridge Road Saturday.
According to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills, a 16-year-old was driving south on Pea Ridge Road shortly after 1:30 p.m. As she neared Oconee Springs Road, the young driver went off the roadway and over corrected. The 2007 Toyota 4-Runner she was driving went across and off the other side of the road and turned over, Sills said.
The teen driver was taken by Putnam County ambulance to Putnam General Hospital because she was complaining of some pain, according to the sheriff.
Her mother, Rebecca Nugent, was ejected from the vehicle’s front passenger seat. She was flown by Air Evac to a nearby trauma center for “suspected serious injury,” according to the wreck report. Sills said Tuesday that her condition was unknown, and no charges were expected to be filed.
