A Putnam County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday. Authorities say the cause of the crash is unknown.
Ryan Ramey, 40, of Cold Branch Road, was found deceased in his pickup truck by a deputy, according to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills. There were no other people in the vehicle.
The deputy was driving along Pea Ridge Road shortly after 7:20 a.m. Monday, when he saw the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado crashed in the trees where the road curves on the 400 block near Concord Methodist Church.
Sills said the truck’s engine was cool, and the driver’s body was already in rigor mortis.
“So, it happened some time during the night, but we’re not sure what time or what happened,” he added. “More than likely it was speed on the curve with the rainy conditions, but we don’t know.”
Putnam County Coroner Hollis Harrison said he went to the scene of the crash and pronounced the death at 8:10 a.m., but the preliminary cause of death was unknown.
Harrison said he took Ramey’s body to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's lab in Decatur for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
