Hunter dies after fall from tree stand

A Stockbridge man was killed Saturday morning, apparently from falling from his tree stand while deer hunting, Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said. Glenn Lamar Coker, 45, was hunting off Hickory Lane in northeast Putnam County.

Local businessman jailed for racketeering

A prominent Eatonton businessman and veterans advocate was arrested last week on various racketeering and fraud charges, with theft amounts totaling more than $48,000, according to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills.

Habitat for Humanity makes another dream come true

Putnam County Habitat for Humanity officials and guests gathered Nov. 1, on Eatonton’s Whippowill Drive to hand over the keys to its latest new home build this year. The nonprofit organization focuses on providing affordable housing for families to build economic stability and self-reliance.
