US 441 widening contract let at $60.6 million

Without much to-do for a project long in the making, the Georgia Department of Transportation three months ago let a $60.6 million contract for four-laning 9.2 miles of U.S. 441 in northern Putnam County.

No one injured in two potentially serious wrecks

Two vehicle crashes in Eatonton last week could have had serious outcomes yet no one was injured, authorities say. One wreck involved a train hitting a car, and the other involved a law enforcement officer in a head-on collision.
