City council hears tax dispute, approves local projects

The Eatonton City Council held a relatively short scheduled meeting on April 7, hearing a citizen’s tax dispute, approving business items, and advancing community events and infrastructure efforts. It then entered an executive session to discuss real estate matters before ending the meeting.

Failure of Georgia elections bill could lead to quick switch to hand-marked ballots

Georgia lawmakers set up the possibility of a swift conversion to hand-marked paper ballots this year when they failed to pass a bill early Friday morning that would have gradually replaced the state’s touchscreen voting system.

An Eatonton man who was working as the general manager of Domino’s Pizza is accused of stealing money from the pizzeria.Brandon Allen Farley, 34, of Chase Circle, Eatonton, is facing charges of theft by taking (felony) and probation violation (fraudulent checks).

Red Cross: donate blood, get a t-shirt

The American Red Cross is asking Georgians statewide to help patients in need by making an appointment to give blood or platelets. The Red Cross said donors of all blood types remain critical to maintaining momentum and keeping the state’s blood supply stable as spring begins.

Andalusia celebrates 101st birthday of O’Connor

The people of Milledgeville shared a night under the stars on March 25 in the warm spring heat as the community celebrated the 101st birthday of novelist Flannery O’Connor.The celebration was held at Andalusia Farm, the former home of O’Connor.
