Putnam’s McElhenney named to ACCG committee

Late last month, Putnam County District 1 Commissioner Tom McElhenney was appointed vice chair of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia's (ACCG) Revenue and Finance Policy Committee. ACCG President Marc Demott of Colquitt County made the appointment.

Nearly 40 members of Putnam County High School’s Class of 2027 recently returned from an unforgettable educational trip to Italy, where students experienced history, culture, and learning firsthand.

Wisconsin-based Putnam County Stone has formally requested to withdraw its controversial rezoning application to establish a rock quarry along Dennis Station Road.

Eatonton vet inducted into ‘In Memory’ program

More than 760 Vietnam veterans, including Maj. Ernest Heywood “Ernie” Brown Jr. of Eatonton, will be inducted June 20 into the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s (VVMF) 2026 In Memory Program. Brown, 85, died peacefully Sept. 23, 2025.
