A new episode of the controversial 25-plus year saga, “As Highway 44 Turns,” has been scheduled from 5-7 p.m. May 7. Signs went up this week promoting a Public Information Open House at the Putnam County Administration Building on Putnam Drive.

The doors are closed right now at Eatonton’s favorite free attraction, the Georgia Writers Museum (GWM) and its accompanying bookstore on South Jefferson Avenue, just up the street from the historic Pex Theater and across the road from the iconic Putnam County courthouse.

Youths steal vehicles, crash in Milledgeville

Two vehicles were stolen out of Putnam County during the night Sunday by three juveniles, one who reportedly was only 13 years old, authorities said.A 2011 Chevrolet Traverse was taken from a residence on Halls Road. It broke down and was abandoned on the U.S. Hwy.

Gusty winds pummel Putnam last week

High winds wreaked havoc in Putnam County last week, causing significant damage, man hours, and inconvenience. Local authorities and electric companies reported downed trees that caused power, cell phone, and internet outages, as well as several damaged vehicles on Thursday and Friday.
