To Eatonton-Putnam County citizens,
The Putnam County Hospital Authority would like to share important news about a significant transition in our hospital’s leadership. After 12 years of dedicated service, our chief executive officer, Alan Horton, announced his intent to retire.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Horton has been a steadfast leader and advocate for our hospital, our staff, and the community we serve. He is an accomplished leader who is known for his hands-on approach to hospital management.
Under his leadership, we have renovated and expanded our Emergency Department; relocated and expanded our Rehab Services Department; renovated the kitchen and cafeteria in the Food Services Department; and facilitated the acquisition of new diagnostic and treatment equipment in the Laboratory, Imaging, and Surgery Departments.
Mr. Horton also facilitated and negotiated a Strategic Partnership with Atrium Health Navicent in Macon. Mr. Horton has also represented Putnam General Hospital by serving as a member of the Board for Stratus Healthcare, Secure Health, Georgia Hospital Association Workers’ Compensation Self-insurance Fund (GHAWCSIF), Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce, and Eatonton-Putnam Tourism, Arts, and Heritage (EPTAH) partnership.
We are deeply grateful to Alan for his vision, integrity, and the lasting impact he has made on both our hospital and our community. He saw us through financially perilous times, with PGH under severe strain due to prior operating losses. Today we are happy to report that PGH is out of debt, thanks to those who realized their state income tax dollars could be given to PGH/ Georgia HEART and get full credit for their state income tax liability.
The Hospital Authority will soon begin the process of identifying Mr. Horton’s successor. In the meantime, Alan will continue to lead and support a smooth transition to ensure the hospital’s continued success.
