In the Feb. 5 edition of your paper, Bill Crane’s “One Man’s Opinion,” entitled “ICE not so nice” was so full of misinformation and half-truths, I could not allow it to go unanswered.
Crane said he supports our nation having a real and secure border, but “isn’t a huge fan of the wall at the southern border.” Well, with millions of people breaking our laws by crossing the border illegally during the last administration, a wall makes the job of our brave border patrol much safer and more effective.
Mr. Crane laments the hiring of thousands of new agents for ICE, but I guess he doesn’t realize that effort would not be necessary if President Biden didn’t abdicate his responsibility to protect American citizens by allowing a mass illegal migration. When questioned about it, President Biden said he didn’t have the authority to secure the border and needed Congress to act. All it took was a president who wanted to do it.
Crane wrote that ICE is raiding schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods while wearing masks and “illogically not coordinating efforts with local and state law enforcement.” First, the masks are necessary to protect the agents’ identity and would not be necessary if the radical extremists were not doxing them and threatening the agents and their families. From January 2025 to January 2026, DHS statistics show reports of death threats against ICE agents increased by 8,000 percent.
Secondly, where does he get off writing that ICE has not coordinated with the locals? In certain cities, local leaders refuse to honor ICE detainers. Doing so is safer for all involved.
Mr. Crane is against dangerous criminal illegal aliens but asks what the dangers of a 5-year-old or an ICU nurse are? That statement is disingenuous. The 5-year-old boy was not detained by ICE; rather, he was abandoned by his father, according to DHS and outlets like the Center of the American Experiment that debunked that false narrative.
Video of the supposed innocent ICU nurse has surfaced of him spitting at ICE agents and damaging a government vehicle previous to inserting himself into a law enforcement operation that unfortunately resulted in his tragic death.
Crane implies that instead of being arrested for obstructing federal law, Renee Good was “simply shot dead” and “was attempting to drive her car away from an ICE raid in her neighborhood.” Reports indicate she didn’t live where the shooting occurred, and videos show that she inserted herself into a law enforcement action. Her death is certainly a tragedy, but I can’t imagine trying to flee if a LEO gave me a lawful order to get out of my car!
Mr. Crane opines that this homeland does not feel entirely secure. He conveniently ignores the fact that none of this chaos and violence is happening in a majority of cities because of cooperation with ICE.
I think Laken Riley (22), Rachel Morin (37), Jocelyn Nungaray (12), Kayla Hamilton (20), Kate Steinle (31), Jamiel Shaw II (17), Sarah Root (21), Dominic Durden (30), Megan Bos (37), Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez (15), Hallie Helgeson (18), Brady Heiling (19), and Fletcher Harris (20), just to name a few of the innocent Americans killed by criminal illegal aliens, would take issue with Mr. Crane’s “opinion.”
But since we can’t ask them, that’s just my “opinion.”
