May was a busy, busy month and I enjoyed each day of it.
First, we had to recover from the great time we experienced at the 33rd anniversary of Mothers Against Crime banquet.
We also awarded two scholarships for 2025 at the banquet, with one going to John Van de Planque at the Gatewood School, and the other to Putnam County High School’s Rashad Daniel, who was not able to attend in person. Congratulations to both of these fine students. We are proud of them.
Then I enjoyed a great lunch at Rock Eagle with the Putnam General Hospital Auxiliary. The food was absolutely great, and the service was, too. The next Wednesday was my day to work the gift shop as a volunteer. I have been a volunteer with Putnam General Hospital Auxiliary for over 40 years now. I was recruited by the late Mrs. Tom Thompson, Sr. I wear my pink jacket proudly.
Now, we are all looking forward to the Dairy Festival this weekend. Oh, what a day it always is. This event makes Putnam County proud.
Remember, I have my promoter’s hat on, so I am telling everyone about how great this event will be on Saturday. I will be there at the Dairy Festival, telling Uncle Remus stories on the courthouse square, starting at 1:15 p.m. I just love talking about history and the stories.
Last Thursday, we had approximately 40-plus adults and young ones visit the Uncle Remus Museum, and I had a chance to entertain and educate them all. They were our guests from St. John AME Vacation Bible School and what a joy it was.
Now, I am on my way outside to check on my daylilies. So many different colors and it makes me happy and proud to see them. But I must end my conversation now and get back to being nosy. After all, I am so good at it.
Thought for today: The young people might not understand our faith, but if we live it out in such a way that makes it attractive, at some point they will likely want to know what makes us “so cool!”
God bless.
