BBQ & Music Fest a summer success

The third annual Lake Oconee BBQ & Music Fest was held at the Pecan Grove at the Farm on Oconee.

With clear skies and perfect conditions, more than 1,500 people enjoyed great food and heard some of the best music from Tim Cardiere and Tailgate, as well as Scott Deering and Fiddle in the Band.

Dough Daddy Dough, Baby’s BBQ, Chick-fil-A, Jeremy’s Wing Shack, Ranger Johns BBQ, Backyard BBQ, and Kona Ice were among the many food trucks. Two breweries — Sierra Nevada and BRUZZE Brewery — helped ensure there was something for everyone.

There were also numerous vendors for those seeking something unique, as well as face painting and games for the children. Additionally, classic cars were on display, and more than $60,000 was raised to benefit the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club of Greensboro.

The winner of a $2,500 Traeger grill donated by Ace Hardware was Christie Bass. The $2,000 Big Egg VXXL, donated by Home Depot, was won by the Greensboro Fire Department, and Kathy Kurelic won the Ace Rec Tech grill. Ace Hardware and Home Depot have been major supporters of this annual event since it began three years ago.

Event coordinators thanked all sponsors and donors, including Chick-fil-A, Landmark Construction, and Reynolds Properties, as well as the vendors and visitors who attended the free festival.
