An Eatonton woman who reportedly had a tantrum in Putnam County Probate Court last week was arrested on misdemeanor charges.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said 51-year-old Katie Reis walked into the probate office on July 25 and said she was there to get married. When informed that she didn’t have an appointment, Reis left the office and walked out of the building. Once outside, she turned around and went back inside.
“This time, she didn’t go through the security checkpoint, but stormed around it, and when she got into the probate court, she started flipping over tables and throwing chairs,” Sills said.
She left when security was called, but was detained outside the east side employee entrance, where the carved statues of Uncle Remus characters are, said Sgt. Justin Brock.
Sills noted the thrown furniture was not damaged, nor was anything in the room, and Reis had made no threats to anyone.
Reis was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of misdemeanor willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and taken to Putnam County Jail.
She was released on $3,000 property bonds.
