Harold Norwood

Mr. Harold Norwood, 68, of Shady Dale, Georgia, gained his heavenly wings, Thursday, September 11, 2025. 

He was born on February 22, 1957, in Shady Dale, Georgia, to the late Emma Florine Ross and Willie Frank Norwood, Sr.

Harold was raised in Shady Dale and attended Jasper County Comprehensive High School, graduating in 1975. From a young age, Harold found solace and a sense of community in Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he developed a deep faith and remained a devoted member throughout his life. He dedicated over 25 years of service to Georgia Pacific and later transitioned to roles at Swift’s transportation and the Board of Education transportation before his well-deserved retirement.

On March 24, 1989, Harold exchanged vows with his beloved wife, Rebecca Mathis. From Their union, they were blessed with two children, Jasmine and Harold Jevon Norwood. Harold found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in spending time outdoors, grilling, gardening, and creating lasting memories with his grandchildren.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Emma Florine Ross and Willie Frank Norwood Sr.; bonus son, Bruce Cooper; and brother, Curtis (Claudette) Norwood.

Harold leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Rebecca Norwood of 36 years; his children, Miranda (Jearld) Washington of Mcdonough, GA, Joshua (Gail) Norwood of Convington, GA, Jasmine Norwood of Eatonton, GA, and Harold Jevon (Ebony) Norwood of Locust Grove; brothers, Pastor Willie Frank (Phyllis) Norwood, Elder Donald (Pastor Patricia) Ross, and Lester Norwood; his sisters, Charlene (Love) Avery and Nyokia Barnes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren In his passing, Harold Norwood leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
