George Kay Pollock passed away peacefully after a two-year battle with cancer.
A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, George was known for his kindness, curiosity, and ability to fix just about anything. His enthusiasm for history and trivia brought joy to all who knew him.
Born in Huntington, West Virginia, to Dr. Bruce Henderson Pollock and Virginia Kay Pollock, George later moved to Naples, Florida, where he attended Naples High School in the class of 1966 and played football. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1970 and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Emory University in 1974. George proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army, stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Following his military service, George practiced dentistry in Naples, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to Naples.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Lyle Pollock; his daughter, Laura Kay Pollock (Paul Sullivan) and three granddaughters; his son, George Pollock Jr. (Amanda Pollock); and his devoted dog, Spencer.
George will be buried in a private ceremony in Huntington, W.Va. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George K. Pollock’s honor to Eagle Hill School, which has had a meaningful and profound impact on our family by providing a transformative education for students who learn differently.
