Katherine Harp Gates

Katherine was a woman of deep faith in God, and she shared that faith openly throughout her life.

She found joy in the mountains, especially in time spent in a cabin there with her family. She had a special fondness for bears that brought a playful spark to her days.

With her warm smile and sharp sense of humor, Katherine could light up a room and bring her infectious laughter to those around her. She never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went, drawing people in with her genuine and outgoing spirit.

For 41 years, she was the wife of her loving husband, John Gates. She was the proud mother of Stephen (Nessa), Christopher (Katie), Andrew, and Melissa (Brek), and the devoted grandmother of Kennedy, Jackson, Maverick, Remington, and Cason.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Shelton Harp. She is survived by her mother, Penny Ingram (Humber); her husband, John Gates; her children and daughter-in-law; her grandchildren; her cousin, Allen Colom (Vicki), and many dear friends.

Her family will forever remember her laughter, her loves, and the unique way she touched their lives.
