Otis Dearman Jr., 84, of Eatonton, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Eatonton on November 14, 1941, to the late Otis Decatur Dearman Sr. and Gladyce Allison Dearman. He was preceded in death by his sister Donna Gregory.
O D Dearman as he was known to everyone that knew him, has lived in Eatonton all his life, he was a member of the Methodist Church and sang in their choir. He graduated from Putnam County High School and was a Blue Devil. He enjoyed playing football and basketball, playing his guitar and singing, and favored the Yellow Jackets, having gone to Georgia Tech. O D served in the United States Army, having been stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX, for two years, and had a rank of 1st Lieutenant.
The visitation was on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Methodist Church's old sanctuary, from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. Burial was at Eatonton Memorial Park after the service.
O D is survived by his wife Bettye Etheridge Dearman, children Allison Pyrtle (Johnny), Darrell Dearman (Roxann), grandchildren Alexandria Marso (Chris), Chase Pyrtle (Sydney), Kelly Bishop (Daniel), Nick Pyrtle (Jessica), Justin Dearman (Hannah), Caroline Fruci (Alex), Jonathan Dearman (Katherine), and 12 greatgrandchildren.
