Van Haute honored at annual ACCG conference

Putnam County Manager Paul Van Haute received the Jerry R. Griffin Excellence in Public Service Award this past weekend during the annual conference of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) in Savannah.

The Griffin Award recognizes an appointed county official who has made significant contributions to the citizens of Georgia through dedication, innovation, and excellence in public service. Van Haute was selected for his leadership in addressing Putnam County’s infrastructure needs, implementing efficient and cost-effective solutions, and enhancing services and facilities for residents and staff.

“Paul’s leadership has left a lasting impact on Putnam County,” Putnam County Commission Chairman Bill Sharp said. “His ability to lead with vision, integrity, and a genuine commitment to this community is evident in everything he has accomplished. This recognition is well-deserved, and we are grateful for his years of dedicated service.”

Throughout his 16-year tenure as Putnam County manager, Van Haute helped manage strategic growth through operational improvements, community-focused initiatives, and sound fiscal management. His leadership helped secure critical resources and modernize county operations.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Van Haute is known as a mentor to his team and a respected leader throughout the organization and across the state. His collaborative approach and dedication to public service set a high standard of excellence within county government.

Van Haute will retire from his position with Putnam County at the end of May, concluding a distinguished career that has made a meaningful difference in the lives of residents. He has stated his future work life remains uncertain.
