OPAS Memorial Day concert kicks off summer

The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) will kick off summer in unforgettable Lake Country style with its annual OPAS Memorial Day Weekend Concert at The Farm at Oconee (1140 Oconee Heights Lane, Greensboro).

Scheduled for Saturday, May 23, music begins at 8 p.m., two hours after the gates open, promising an unforgettable evening of music, picnics, family fun, and celebration under the stars.

This year’s concert will be especially meaningful as OPAS joins the national celebration of America’s 250th birthday. To mark the occasion, OPAS has added the 2024 American Traditions Vocal Competition grand prize winner, Elizabeth Baldwin, to the program.

An acclaimed American talent, Baldwin has soloed with the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, and the Sarasota Symphony Orchestra, among others. She will share a few selections that salute America and honor rich musical traditions that helped shape the nation’s cultural identity.

The evening will also celebrate great American female country singers with familiar songs made famous by artists such as Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Carrie Underwood, and more.

The concert will also feature an extraordinary lineup of other artists and musicians, including Grammy Award winner Nicole Zuraitis, Grammy Award-winning conductor and arranger Matt Catingub, superstar drummer Steve Moretti, and the acclaimed Macon Pops Ensemble.

Families are encouraged to enjoy the beautiful setting and take part in pre-concert activities, including face painting and fun for kids. A couple of food trucks will also be onsite to supplement your picnic and enhance the festivities.

General admission tickets are $59, and table seats are $99 each. Tables seat eight guests, making them a perfect option for groups that want to enjoy the evening together. Children 10 and under and onsite parking are both free.

Tickets are available at opas.org or by calling 706-467-6000.
