The Dairy Festival returns to Eatonton on June 6, with its first official event beginning at 7:30 a.m. with a 5K Race and Fun Run sponsored by the Eatonton Service League.
By 9 a.m., dozens of arts, crafts, and food vendors, plus children’s activities, will be open around the Courthouse square.
The official Dairy Festival Parade, featuring this year’s Eatonton Service League Dairy Festival Queen, will begin at 10 a.m.
A brief speakers’ platform program on the square will follow at 11 a.m. to introduce Georgia Dairy Farm representatives, the Dairy Festival Queen and her court, plus the Junior Miss, Little Miss, Petite Miss, Tiny Miss, and each of their courts, too. During this program, there will be a special guest speaker, and many local and state officials will also be recognized.
Live entertainment will kick off at noon, featuring local performers throughout the afternoon.
Hosted annually by the Pilot Club of Eatonton, the Putnam County Dairy Festival is financially sponsored by many local businesses, service organizations, and individuals.
The inaugural Putnam County Dairy Festival was held in 1953, designed to recognize the dairy industry, honor local dairy farm families, and emphasize the year-round contributions of dairy farmers to Putnam County.
In celebration of National Dairy Month, the Putnam County Dairy Festival is traditionally held on the first Saturday in June.
While the number of dairies in Putnam County has decreased over the years, dairy farming remains a major industry. Local dairy farmers continue to work hard to provide safe and wholesome dairy foods. They are dedicated and take pride in caring for their cows.
