Several people called 911 after a friend allegedly pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot up their house, according to law enforcement reports.
Putnam County Deputy Sheriff Hollie Collins responded to a residence in the 100 block of Friendship Road between 7 and 8:30 a.m. on May 27, Sheriff Howard Sills said.
When Collins arrived, the gunman, identified as Sammy Lackey, had already left the scene. Five victims told Collins they had been in the kitchen cooking while Lackey was there with them. They noticed Lackey becoming agitated and said he began throwing items around the room while arguing with his girlfriend. Lackey then stormed out of the house, and the others followed because his girlfriend feared he might shoot her dog. They told deputies Lackey had a revolver tucked into the waistband of his pants, according to Collins’ report.
As they stood on the porch attempting to calm him down, Lackey remained in the yard and reportedly said he would not settle down until his girlfriend spoke with him. When Lackey threatened to shoot up the house, four of his friends ran inside and called 911.
The fifth man stayed outside in an attempt to calm Lackey down, but Lackey allegedly pulled out his revolver and pointed it at the man's head. The man moved behind a porch post, and Lackey reportedly repositioned himself to keep the gun aimed at him.
“He didn’t remember if Sammy said anything to him because he ran inside and out the back door to put distance between him and Sammy,” Sills said. “Shortly afterward, he heard Sammy get in his truck and drive away. (His girlfriend) left soon thereafter.”
Lackey was arrested later that day without incident, Sills said.
Sammy Wayne Lackey, 23, of Twilight Shores Road, is being held without bond in the Putnam County Jail. He is charged with two counts of felony terroristic threats and acts-family violence, two additional counts of felony terroristic threats and acts, and one count of aggravated assault.
