Nearly 40 members of Putnam County High School’s Class of 2027 recently returned from an unforgettable educational trip to Italy, where students experienced history, culture, and learning firsthand.
During their travels, PCHS students explored some of Italy’s most iconic landmarks in Rome, including the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, and the Roman Forum. The group also visited Castel Gandolfo, touring the Papal Palace and its beautiful gardens.
The trip continued in Perugia, where students enjoyed the charm of the historic city and visited a local chocolate factory. While there, the group also toured Assisi, home of the Basilica of St. Francis, and visited the breathtaking Marmore Waterfalls.
From authentic Italian cuisine to historic sites and cultural experiences, the trip provided students with valuable opportunities for learning, personal growth, and lasting memories.
PCHS teacher and class trip coordinator April Smith said the trip to Italy was about much more than sightseeing — it was about giving students the opportunity to experience the world beyond the classroom.
“My goal is to create unforgettable educational class trips for every grade level that allow students to explore different cultures, history, and experiences around the world,” Smith said. “We hope to continue growing these opportunities and expand our trips even more next year.”
