Formal charges were filed against a Monroe County teenage girl after she reported sexual encounters with a young teen.
The incidents took place earlier this year at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Putnam County, according to reports obtained by The Eatonton Messenger from the University of Georgia Police Department.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills identified the 17-year-old as Lilith Midian Lee Cagle of Forsyth. Jail records show she was charged with misdemeanor sodomy, misdemeanor statutory rape, and felony Violation of the Computer or Electronic Device Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act. Cagle was arrested on May 13 and released on property bonds totaling $7,000.
Instead of felonies, the sodomy and statutory rape charges were misdemeanors due to the young ages of the accused and the victim, according to Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Chief Assistant District Attorney Allison Mauldin.
The sexual acts reportedly happened between 11:30 p.m., March 7, and 5:30 a.m. March 8 in a cabin at Rock Eagle 4-H camp. Cagle was a camper at the time, and the 14-year-old male victim is listed on the police report as a “UGA visitor.”
Two other juveniles were in the cabin when the incidents occurred, and one of them told an adult family member what had happened. That person notified Monroe County 4-H Agent Rachel Frisbie, who promptly contacted the UGA Police Department, as required by law when minors are involved, according to UGA PD Officer Tatyana Priddy.
UGA Police Detective Marlin Ewings notified the Division of Family and Children Services. On May 12, UGA Police obtained a warrant from Putnam County Magistrate Judge Christyne Holmes for Cagle’s arrest. Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit A.D.A. Carter Harwell will prosecute the case.
