She played dead and it may have saved her life.
A 40-year-old woman came from out of town to visit her father, who lives on Lake Sinclair.
She got up early Saturday and went for a morning jog. As she ran along the 300 block of Cold Branch Road, a German Shepherd ran through the open gate of a residence and attacked her.
“The dog knocked her down and wouldn’t let her go,” said Putnam County Sheriff’s Chief of Staff Russell Blenk. “She played dead, and it finally let her go.”
The victim received severe bites and wounds to her right arm and thigh and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Macon for treatment.
Putnam County Animal Control took the dog and cited the dog’s owner, Jack Jobs, for dog running loose and menacing animal, according to Blenk. He said the report reveals that Putnam County Animal Control was “familiar with the residence because it had a history.”
Attempts to reach Putnam County Animal Control Director Christine Tillman by press time were unsuccessful.
