Joseph Batchelor, 76, of Gray, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.
Funeral services were held graveside at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at Fortville Cemetery, with Dr. Ron McClung officiating.
Joe was born Aug. 10, 1950, in Haddock to the late Grady Berry Batchelor Sr. and Mary Mercer Batchelor.
Joe enjoyed traveling and driving across the country. When he was not traveling, he enjoyed breeding and showing bantam chickens and won several Best in Show awards. Joe was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed shooting skeet and target practice.
Joe is survived by his nephews, Joe Smith (Debra) of Centerville and Berry Batchelor (Darlene) of Haddock; cousins Cheryl Johnson (Don) of Haddock and Gary Bradley (Bonnie) of Doraville; longtime girlfriend Janice Scoggins of Eatonton; her son, Greg Scoggins of Eatonton; close friend Mikey; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Grady Berry Batchelor Jr., and sisters Martha Middleton and Mary Shepherd.
