Dear Editor,
This local Board of Commissioner election is crazy.
I thought the primaries were over the top with dark money, negative mailers from Atlanta attacking Dr.
Hersey, and now it is even worse.
I don’t keep up too much with social media, but from what I see and hear, it is now just the Primary re-do plus. It is obvious that there are two factions fighting to win. The rich and powerful “PDA” old-money people, and the other populist candidates, Hersey, Olson, and Ray for common folk like me, some call the “Trifecta.”
It is out in the open and no longer a secret, as the same people who supported the “PDA” candidates in the Primary are now supporting the Independents. We see the same rich and powerful congregating together with the independent candidates at public events, giving support, and endorsements on social media.
The main themes from the “Trifecta” are that experience matters, hard work, fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency will bring benefit and restore trust to the people of Putnam.
Unlike the “Trifecta,” I have not personally heard the Independents tout any previous engagement with local government, be in-touch with county issues, or any direct previous experience. I guess the Independents just woke up one day and said, “I want to run for BOC?” I think that Putnam voters are smart, see what is going on, and the more the Rich and Powerful work to vote in and keep a favorable BOC with the Independents, the more I like the “Trifecta.”
