Marvin L. Banks

Mr. Marvin L. Banks was born February 18, 1941 in Eatonton Georgia to the late Tom Collis Banks, Sr. and Emma Bishop Banks, He departed this life on February 9, 2022.

He was united in marriage to Joyce White and to this union, four children were born. In 2002 he remarried Annie Freeman and they had two daughters. He attended the Eatonton schools and later graduated from Butler-Baker High School, there. He learned many trades and loved to tinker with anything, mechanical or otherwise. After graduation he moved to Atlanta in pursuit of better employment opportunities. Marvin was a faithful worker, having held many jobs in his lifetime. He worked at restaurants and odd jobs before landing a position at then named Lockheed Martin, bringing his brothers in that field after they graduated high school. Olnce that job ended, he found work at then Southern Bell, later Bellsouth, now AT&T, where he retired after 30 years in 2002. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, one brother, Alan Banks and three children preceded him in death: Bernard, Eric and Demetrice.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annie: son Kenneth Banks: daughters: Tenisha Banks and Anndrea Banks; stepdaughters; Angela Johnson, Juanita, Sandra, Tanita and Sharon Freeman; sisters: Helen Cannon (Pledge) of Centerville GA, Theodora Reid of Eatonton GA, Carolyn Clemons and Beverly Waller (Cornelious) of Decatur GA; brothers: Tom Banks, Jr (Jacqueline) and Milner Leon Banks (Juanita) of Henry County, John Quincy Banks of Decatur GA, Ronald Banks, Sr of Eatonton GA and Darryl Elbert Banks of Athens GA; Aunt: Willie Kate Nelson; mother-in-law, sisters-in-law; 41 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Gregory B Levett and Sons Funeral Homes, South Dekalb Chapel, Decatur GA were in charge of arrangements.
