Robert Grady Ogletree, Jr. (affectionately known as “Bay Buddy”or his celebrity name “RGOJ”) was born March 22, 1956, in Barnesville, GA to the parents of Robert Grady Ogletree, Sr. and Florrie Nita Ogletree. He was the second son of four boys born to this union. Robert peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at his home in Eatonton, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Robert G. Ogletree, Sr., two brothers, Ronald Jerome Ogletree and Terrance Sean Ogletree, and a nephew, Atlas Creed.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H. Anthony. He remained a member and attended Union Hill whenever he visited Forsyth.
Robert received his early formal education in the Monroe County School System. He attended Hubbard Elementary and Mary Persons High School. He was a MP graduate Class of 1974.
Upon graduation, Robert attended Gordon College.
Robert was a dedicated employee, and he fostered lasting friendships with his coworkers.
Robert retired in 2018 at Anthony International. Post retirement, he enjoyed what he loves the most, which is visiting family, spending time with his wife, and cooking to name a few.
One thing Robert was very known for was his demanding and entrancing voice. His voice along with his smooth demeanor introduced him to the love of his life, Thedora Clemons, at a wedding he performed at in 1988. Robert and Thedora joined in holy matrimony on June 22, 1991 where they shared 31 years of devotion, commitment, and unconditional love.
Robert shared a special relationship with his only son, Rashad Ogletree. They spoke on the phone often, sharing their passion for good food, life, and an array of perspectives. One would see them at family gatherings sharing laughter and father/son conversation. Hopefully, Rashad will become the next purveyor of The Enhancer “the sauce that demands Your imagination!”
Robert has definitely prepared a legacy for both his only son and grandson, Justin.
Robert was a strong family man of faith and he loved God and his family. He was a man of MANY words; his character was impeccable. He was fun, loving, exuberant, well rounded, and always encouraged others. He loved singing (performing at weddings and events), cooking, and sharing his life stories with others. He never met a stranger and has left a lasting impression on the hearts of countless people.
