Joy Yarbrough, 70, of Eatonton passed away peacefully at her residenc on July 15, 2022. She was born in Sandersville, Ga. and moved to Eatonton when she was a small child. Joy graduated from Putnam County High School in 1970 and attended nursing school thereafter, where she became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Central State Hospital for several years before becoming a floral designer.
Joy and her mother, Hazel, went to floral design school in Florida and in 1980 became the owners and operators of Yarbrough Florist located in downtown Eatonton until its closing in 2014. Her father, Mr. Henry Yarbrough owned and operated Yarbrough Jewelry store next to the flower shop and The Pex Theater for over 40 years before his passing in 2005.
Joy was preceded in death by her older brother Robert “Robby” Yarbrough. She is survived by her mother, Kathryn “Hazel” Yarbrough and several friends. No service is planned.
