Donations to Ferst Readers of Greene and Putnam Counties are beginning to come in thanks to all the wonderful people out there who have opened their hearts and wallets to ensure young children in our counties have books in their homes.
Children who are read to early often have a huge advantage when it comes to doing well in school and likewise in life. As of now, we have funded 130 readers in total, thanks to these donations.
If you would like to participate in the 2 Ways 2 Win fall fundraiser, tickets are $36 and give the gift of literacy to a pre-school age child. Buying a ticket offers a chance to win one of 20 prizes donated by generous merchants and restaurants and adopts a young reader.
Either way, you can’t go wrong. The raffle drawing will be held at Lake Oconee Bistro on Monday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m.
You do not have to be present to win, but we hope you will come enjoy dinner either before or after the drawing.
As a publicly funded non-profit organization, Ferst Readers promotes the development of early childhood literacy skills in children from birth to age 5.
Tickets can be purchased from any Ferst community action team member or from Cathy Mize at 478-454-7150, Carol Kuhn at 443-867-2012, or Dianna O’Keefe at 706-467-3765.
If you would like to donate, but don’t want to participate in the raffle, you can donate online at https://bit.ly/ GreenePutnam AdoptaReader, or use the QR code. Every donation is greatly appreciated.
