We live in some troubled times today. It seems like everywhere we turn there is trouble: in our homes, on our jobs, and even at church. Satan is busy seeking whom he can tempt, to convince whom he can that God does not hear our prayers; that God is not concerned about what we are going through, our trials and tribulations; that we are on our own when it come to our suffering, pain, hurt and disappointment.
However, we must not get discouraged or become dismayed by what we see going on all around us. The word of God tells us to remain faithful and know that God is right there with us during our suffering and pain. Paul reminds us in 1 Peter 5th chapter, to cast all your cares upon Him because He cares about us. He writes to encourage us that in due time God will exalt us if we faint not.
The word of God reminds us that we are not to get discouraged, become distracted, lose hope and give up in life. Despite our problems, despite what we are going through, despite what we are facing in life, we are to be encouraged. We must be reminded of who we are and of whose we are. We are God’s people. We are his property; we belong to Him. We are covered by the blood of Jesus that He shed on the cross at Calvary.
Whenever we are facing hard times, when our world is reeling and we can’t tell night from day or we can’t seem to understand, take comfort in knowing that God is able to bless us abundantly more than we can ever imagine. We must not be fair-weather Christians, only praising God when things are going well and we can see how the end is going to be.
God wants us to be faithful to the end. To trust Him and wait patiently for Him to answer our prayers and make a way out of no way. To open doors for us. To walk by faith and not by sight. He says cast all your cares upon Him. He wants to take away all your burdens, your pain, misery, worries and concerns.
He reminds us in this passage to be sober and vigilant because the adversary, the devil is walking about seeking whom he may devour. Look all around you and see the state of the world that we are living in today. It seems like it gets worse every day. We are engaged in a spiritual battle with Satan.
In this life, we should expect rejections, suffering and attacks. However, because we worship a true and living God, whenever we go through persecution, we grow stronger in our faith. Cast your cares upon Him because He really cares.
