John Tom Sidwell, age 84, of Eatonton, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022. A Celebration of Life for John Sidwell will be conducted Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Eatonton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jacob Doulliez officiating. Interment will be held privately in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
A native of Appalachi, GA, John was born on March 8, 1938 to the late Alfonza “Butch” Sidwell and the late Hattie Eloise Copeland Sidwell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Katie Lucille Sidwell Godwin, Inez Sidwell Young, and Vivian Jeanette Sidwell Jones. John served his country in the U.S. Army, and served his community at home by retiring from the Georgia Department of Corrections, at Putnam State Prison.
John is survived by his wife, Carol Janet Poole Sidwell; his son, Andy (& Deana) Sidwell of Monticello; a step-son, Jeff (& Sheila) Zorens of Milledgeville; his grandchildren, Brett (& Harley) Sidwell, Amanda (&William) Cooper, Miranda Zorens, and Kynsee Zorens; his great grandchildren, Wyatt Moore, Harper Sidwell, Teagan Sidwell, David “Bubba” Sidwell, and Riverten Sidwell; his sister, Nettie Claudia Sidwell Goodson; and a brother, Grady James Sidwell.
