Rotary recognizes outstanding local students

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for October 2022: Aidan Rainey (Gatewood Schools) and Emily Pressley (Putnam County High School) in Putnam County; and Aiden Turner (Greene County High School), Hannah Heinen (Lake Oconee Academy), Blake Lanier (Nathanael Greene Academy), in Greene County. Aiden Turner, also the September student of the month from GCHS, was recognized during the Rotary Club meeting.

Aidan Rainey is a senior at Gatewood School. Aidan's parents are Mac and Libby Rainey. He is an honor roll student, captain of the varsity competition cheerleading squad, member of the varsity football and soccer teams, a member of the student Ambassador Program, Anchor Club, and Interact club. He enjoys lazy days on the lake with his friends, cheer practice, and spending time with his family.

Aidan considers his dedication and work ethic to be his most important attributes and cites his family and friends as his main inspiration and motivators.

After high school, Aidan plans to attend Clemson University to major in Exercise Science.

He hopes to go to medical school and sees himself at a successful Physical Therapy office.

Beth Moss is Aidan’s chosen Gatewood teacher-of-the-month.

Emily Pressley is a senior at Putnam County High School. As an honor roll student, she is an officer of the Beta Club, along with being a member of National Honor Society and the golf team. Emily has received rural and smalltown national recognition from the College Board, along with the AP Scholar Award. She works with the community through involvement with Service Leadership at the high school.

Emily enjoys reading, writing, and other such hobbies. She values kindness as her most positive attribute and attempts to showcase this characteristic daily. After high school, Emily plans to attend a university in Georgia to pursue a degree in a STEM field. She chose Mark Adams as her teacher-of-the-month.
