Putnam County High School’s cheer season came to an end on Nov. 11, following the 2022 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Competition Cheerleading State Championships at the Macon Centreplex.

After hosting and winning the 4-AA Division championship just one week earlier, it represented a disappointing and emotional finish for Coach April Smith and her Lady Eagles team.

The Putnam girls took the stage in Macon and performed an almost flawless routine, and though they made little to no mistakes, it wasn’t quite enough to prevail in their division.

Tears were shed following the performance, but members of the PCHS cheer team found support in each other as they went their separate ways after their final time with the 2022 seniors. Whitewater High School ended up taking the corresponding 2023 GHSA championship home to Fayetteville.
