Letters to the editor: New hope for Jimmy Davis Park?

Dear editor: A group of concerned taxpayers met on Thursday, Feb. 2, to discuss the restoration of Jimmy Davis Park.

I was delighted to see that (Putnam County) Commissioner Daniel Brown was present. He informed us that the county is going to take care of this project.

He stated they have been having discussions behind the scene about Jimmy Davis Park. They are going to bring it back better than it was before. He also said, ”We will be proud of the park.”

There was talk about putting a fence around and (an) opening and closing time at the park. Also, there was a discussion on ways to utilize the building. Citizens made comments and asked Commissioner Brown questions. He answered questions as well as listened to suggestions from the group.

My takeaway from the meeting was, “Hey You, I got you,” from the County Commissioners.

Those two phrases are very popular. “Hey, you” means I see you and recognize your need.

“I got you” means I am going to take care of what you need.

Thank you, Commissioner Brown, for attending and working towards getting the park up and running. We will be attending the county commissioners meeting on Feb 21, 2023, at 6 p.m.
