JoBeth Ritchie Griffin

JoBeth Ritchie Griffin passed away on March 8, 2023. JoBeth was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 24, 1934, to the late Joseph and Mamie Ritchie. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Jo "Beth” Story, her parents, two sisters, and her brother.

She is survived by her son-in-law Ken Story, granddaughters JoAnna Story Gilbreath (Justin) and Sarah Story (Dustin Graham) and great-grandsons Dean Story and Archer Gilbreath.

JoBeth lived in Eatonton for over 50 years. She taught English at Putnam Middle School and Gatewood. Mrs. Griffin’s time in education had an immeasurable impact on her students.

Among teaching she had many accomplishments and accolades including being in the first co-education graduating class of Emory University in 1956, majoring in Experimental Psychology. She assisted in archeological digs in Jamestown, Virginia.

JoBeth loved exploring all things historic and collecting antiques.

A memorial service has not yet been arranged, however, those who wish to send their love can send potted plants to her granddaughter Sarah Story. Sarah resides at 924 Monticello Road Eatonton, Georgia 31024. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel is in charge of the arrangements,
