This spring, the Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) is producing Neil Simon’s classic comedy “The Odd Couple,” Neil Simon’s classic comedy about the clash of a clean freak versus a slob.
The play opens with a group of guys in the midst of their weekly poker game in the apartment of divorced sportswriter Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder his wife left him.
The apartment is disheveled and smoke-filled, and the only thing Oscar can offer his guests is warm Coke and moldy sandwiches.
Enter Felix Ungar, a man recently thrown out by his wife. Felix is feeling alone and depressed, leading Oscar to invite Felix to be his new roommate.
However, as Felix takes on the domestic mantle in the apartment and proves just how difficult he is to live with, Oscar is driven to the edge of madness.
“The Odd Couple” stars several of Lake Country’s friends and neighbors. The cast consists of Michelle Saarela, Terry Pero, Lou Benjamin, Doug Ivey, Ed Kercado, Jim Bedsole, Dan Kniffen and Michael Homeier. The play is being directed by Dennis McClain and Sarah Daly Weir.
PAPA is excited to be back on the stage for The Plaza’s 15th anniversary year. “The Odd Couple” will be performed four times: April 20, 21, and 22 at 7 p.m. and April 23 at 2:30 p.m.
All performances take place on The Plaza Arts Center’s stage in Eatonton. Tickets are $25 and $20, with $10 student tickets also available.
