Downtown Greensboro is already prepping for its annual summer concert, Moonlight on Main (formerly known as Pickin’ on the Greene), 7-10 p.m., Friday, June 16.
The Greensboro Main Street Program (GMSP, in partnership with the Greensboro Business Association, presents this family-friendly event that will feature live entertainment, food, ice cream, shopping, and dining in Lake Oconee’s hometown.
“Moonlight on Main is downtown’s premier summer concert,” GMSP Manager Kendrick Ward said. “We hear from visitors all the time that Greensboro is such a charming and welcoming place, which is why we share our town with others by inviting them to join us in a fun evening of music with our friends and neighbors.”
New to the annual summer concert this year will be fireworks, so everyone is invited to visit downtown Greensboro for the summer concert and stay to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday beneath a colorfully exploding night sky.
Starting the evening at 7 p.m., Greensboro Mayor Corey Williams will kick off the event by reading a proclamation for the Juneteenth holiday.
John Dunn and the Jazzmen will then take the stage, bringing smooth jazz, soulful rhythm, and the sounds of Motown to the streets of Greensboro. Band members include Dunn on trumpet, Antwan “Left Hand” Lewis on keyboards, Tyrome Bell on drums, Antino Bennett on saxophone, Ric Hodges on guitar, and Dona Hodge with the vocals, along with a few special guests throughout the night.
After the concert ends, fireworks are planned to start at about 9:30 p.m. Stay for the spectacular fireworks show to kick off the Juneteenth holiday weekend.
When at Moonlight on Main, you can expect to make memories that will last a lifetime. All are welcome and encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy this free event. There will be food and beverages for purchase as well as home-churned ice cream provided by Front Porch Churn. Downtown shops and restaurants stay open into the evening offering the very best in Lake Country shopping and dining.

Moonlight on Main is a summer music event that takes place in the heart of historic downtown Greensboro. Moonlight on Main is produced by the Greensboro Main Street Program (GMSP) and the Greensboro Downtown Development Authority with support from the City of Greensboro.
Since its beginning in 2012, the annual summer event has been downtown Greensboro’s main summer community event, attracting musical artists and visitors from across the state. The event’s goal is to attract people to the town with the hope that they will return to the community and future events.
