Lake Oconee Dentistry (LOD) will host Stars, Stripes, and Smiles on Friday, June 23, as a free day of dentistry for active and retired military members, as well as “hometown heroes,” including law enforcement, firefighters, DNR, and EMS personnel.
Drs. David and Patti Bradley, Dr. Shelly Pound, and Dr. Andrea Feldman, as well as Lake Oconee Dentistry hygienists, dental assistants, and other team members, will provide event attendees with their choice of a free extraction, filling, or cleaning that day.
Dr. David Miller, an oral surgeon and owner of Lake Oconee Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, also will be donating his time and that of his team, in order to help as many people as possible.
Of the 21 million veterans in the United States, fewer than 10 million are enrolled for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health benefits, and more than 1.2 million lack health insurance altogether. This gap is even more pronounced when it comes to dental care because the VA provides dental benefits only to veterans classified as disabled or as prisoners of war, or to veterans who have a service-connected dental condition.
LOD’s Stars, Stripes, and Smiles also will be open to those who work daily to keep local communities safe.
'Oftentimes those who serve our country and communities are, unfortunately, among the most underserved when it comes to healthcare,” Dr.
David Bradley said. “Stars, Stripes, and Smiles is our way of honoring those who have given, and continue to give, so much to ensure our safety and make this country what it is today.”
Active military, veterans, or hometown heroes interested in receiving free dental treatment on June 23, should call the LOD office (706453-1333) for an appointment time. Participating in Stars, Stripes, and Smiles does not require being a prior or current patient of Lake Oconee Dentistry or Lake Oconee Oral Surgery to receive treatment.
Lake Oconee Dentistry opened in 1998 and is located off Highway 44 in Greensboro, between the Publix parking lot and the movie theater.
