Dear Editor,
The past week was busy, busy, busy, and I enjoyed each and every moment of it.
Our daughters from Macon came up at intervals to visit, to talk, and really just to check on us. I love the attention, but most of the time they have to call ahead to make sure I am in place. I love to drive around and be very nosy.
Sylvia’s Coffee Shop opened in downtown Eatonton. There are some great goodies inside and it really gives you a chance to relax, talk, and be nosy. It’s a good spot for me to hang my promoter’s hat, too.
I attended my church, St. John’s AME Church, on Sunday. It was Women Missing Sunday and Reverend Janet Sands topped it off with a down-to-earth, soul-stirring message. Thank you, Reverend Sands. I needed the boost on Sunday afternoon.
I also went to Ebenezer Baptist Church that afternoon with two of my best friends. Everybody called us trouble in all capital letters. Ebenezer also held a Hat-attitude that day. Oh gosh, some beautiful hats and outfits were modeled. Even the men participated and they also looked great. The judges had a hard job, I am sure because all the models were absolutely fantastic.
Don’t forget school started this week.
Please keep your students, teachers, administrators, and parents in your prayers. We want to keep everyone safe.
Okay, I am going to shut up now and water my plants before they are in need of IVs.
Thought for today: If I carry my worries with me and never, never lay them down even to sleep, I will become less and less able to meet the challenges they represent. A worry is a form of self-destruction, while faith is a means of daily renewal, the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter.
God bless, Georgia Benjamin-Smith
