Lois Wilson passed away on August 28, 2023, at the age of 98 in Greensboro, GA. She was born to John and Cecelia Threnheuser Bittlebrun on August 1, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA.
She was the youngest of eight children where she was raised and resided for 81 years. She loved all social activities, primarily dancing.
She met the love of her life, Donald Wilson in high school, and found they had a common interest in dancing which led to their steady dating.
When Donald returned to Pittsburgh after serving in the Navy and World War II, they married on November 23, 1946, and were married for 66 years until Donald died in 2012.
Besides their love of dance, they enjoyed boating on the three rivers in Pittsburgh, bowling, square dancing later in life, and enjoying their grandchildren’s activities.
Lois loved to crochet, watch current and old movies, play cards and board games, shop, be with family, and pray. She devoted her life to showing her deep love to her family. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (GG), as she was known, who loved to cook, bake, and raise her two children. At age 81, she and her husband moved to Woodstock, GA to be closer to their children.
After Donald died, Lois moved to Lake Oconee to be near her daughter. She lived at the Harbor for two and a half years, before moving to the Glen where she lived for six years, until the last nine weeks of her life, and then moved to her daughter’s home. Lois passed in her son and daughter’s arms into God’s loving arms and His Heavenly Kingdom.
She was so happy to live her last two months with comfort and constant caring of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Donald, and her seven siblings Brothers: Adrian, Jerome, Earl, and Bernard Bittlebrun, and Sisters: Dolores Pollens, Armella Kelly, and Mary Alice Quinn.
Lois is survived by her two loving children, Karen (late Barry) Thomas, and John (Marci) Wilson, four grandchildren: Kevin and Bradley Thomas, Mike (Andrea) Wilson, and Emily (Cristian) Benner, and five great children: Alexandra (Lexi) and Charles (Charlie) Thomas, Briland and Sabrina (Saba) Thomas, and Savannah Wilson. She also leaves behind a loving niece, nephews, and many relatives through marriage and friends.
She will always be remembered for her warm, beautiful, and loving smile, her joking nature, and her wonderful warm heart to everyone.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Glen who showed Lois their true love and caring while a resident there. They would also like to thank Abbey Hospice for the loving care given to her. Thank you to all who sent prayers, loving thoughts, and concerns, and helped with her care the last two months.
A funeral Mass will be held on September 26, 2023, at 10 AM, at Christ Our King and Savior, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642. Burial will be on September 27, 2023, at 1:15 PM, at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
