Charity fishing tourney boasts big support on Sinclair

The fourth-annual Casting in Pink Fishing Tournament launched from Dennis Station at Lake Sinclair on Oct. 28 to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and treatment.

Organizers said the tournament was a huge success with 86 boats entered, a wide variety of vendors on hand, and sponsors including Lake Country Fishing, Sinclair Marine, Kastking, Bass Pro, Bullard’s BBQ, Georgia Bass Trail, and Casting in Pink.

Several cancer survivors came out for the weigh-in and several items were given away as part of a raffle.

Laura Paxton and her team at United in Pink helped create and organize the event. United in Pink is a breast cancer family resource provider of emotional, social and financial support to individuals and their families in Central Georgia following a breast cancer diagnosis.

The Top 10 winners from the Casting in Pink Tournament included: 1st place - Jeff Giese and Tommy Lee with 13.86 pounds of fish 2nd place - Jason Cheek and Brian Patrick with 13.46 pounds 3rd place - Matt Henry with 12.85 pounds 4th place - Mark Burns and Trennon Henson with 12.68 pounds 5th place - Charlie Adams and Bob Summers with 12.62 pounds Big Fish - Jeff Giese and Tommy Lee at 6.76 pounds Three of the biggest fish are headed to the Macon Bass Pro Tank, including the fish caught by Giese and Lee, as well as those caught by Lance Collins, Michael Smith and Patti Smith.

Also heading to the Bass Pro Tank in Duluth are the fish caught by the teams of David Lowery Grant Kelly, and Malcolm Daniel and Ryan Payne.
