On Saturday, Oct. 28, Lake Oconee Elks Lodge 2849 held its annual Soccer Shoot at the Greene County Recreation Center for kids ages 4-15 for Greene, Putnam, Morgan, and Hancock counties.
It was a beautiful day and after the contestants finished their contests, they were treated to a hotdog lunch grilled up by the lodge’s Chuck Wagon crew.
After lunch, the winners were announced. The first-place winners will continue to the State Soccer Shoot contest to be held in November at the Aidmore campus in Conyers, Georgia.
The winners from the State competition will travel to the Florida Elks Youth Camp in Umatilla, Florida for an expense-paid trip for themselves and their families to compete in the Regional Soccer Shoot between Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.
The first-place winners were: U8 Boys, Cooper Clayton; U10 Girls, Ryleigh Shelnutt; U10 Boys, Stephen Mancil; U12 Boys, Thomas Partee; U14 Girls, Fernanda Olvera-Santos and U14 Boys, Elliott Mancill. The second-place winners were: U8 Boys, Alejandro Vega-Andrade; U10 Girls, Charlee Clayton; U10 Boys, Navjot Singh; U12 Boys, Carsyn Clayton. U14 Boys & Girls did not have a second-place contestant.
Thank you to Lake Oconee Lodge Soccer Chairman Bob Pluta, next year’s upcoming Soccer Chairman Cliff Peck, all of the volunteers, and especially the kids that came out to shoot and their parents for bringing them.
