Lake Country Chorus (LCC) presented its Christmas program “Let it Snow,” last Thursday evening at First Methodist Church on Carey Station Road in Greensboro.
Assistant Pastor Michelle Testman welcomed an audience of more than 500 to the event, followed by emcee Greg Tatum introducing the Lake Country Chorus for a beautiful evening of music.
Under the baton of LCC Artistic Director Donna Valvo, the program began with the song “Somewhere it’s Snowing” and continued for more than an hour. It also featured a pair of solo performances, the first by tenor Hal Meeks with “Good King Wenceslas” and later the lovely voice of soprano Dottie Mitchell singing “Amid the Falling Snow.”
Accompanist Amy Reber was joined by instrumental director and bass guitar/omni bass player Tom Shalin and the orchestra, comprised of Joanna Stanchek on cello, Will Casada, on clarinet; Louis Romanos, on drums; Lynne Fowlkes on flute, Karrie Frey, oboe; Kevin Alexander, percussions; JoJo Glidewell on synthesizer; and on violins, John Cooper, Dr. Rachael Fischer and Keiko Ishibashi.
The LCC Women’s Chorus sang a lovely rendition of “The Snowflake” and was joined onstage by young dancers Adam DeBiasi and Pruitt Womack from the Arts Barn Dancers under the instruction of Helen Garcia-Carreras. All received rousing applause following the performance.
The “Let it Snow” program ended with the Ukrainian Bell Carol and a standing ovation was given to all musicians and singers.
