The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has announced its recipients of this year's Student of the Year scholarships for the 2023-24 school year.
These outstanding students have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements, leadership qualities, and a commitment to community service.
The winners include Taylor Moreno (Gatewood Schools), Quanas Benford (Greene County High School), Keerti Ahluwalia (Lake Oconee Academy), Emily Abarca (Nathanael Greene Academy), and Claudia Franklin (Putnam County High School).
The Rotary Club recognizes students who excel in their academic pursuits each year and embody Rotary's values through their dedication to service and leadership. The $1,000 scholarships are awarded to support their further education and inspire continued excellence. Each school selects the students from among the eight Rotary Students of the Month.
Dr. Tyler Franks and Martha Franks, Rotary Club co-chairs of the Student of the Month program, presented the scholarships to each student during the various schools’ honors programs.
“We are thrilled to recognize these exceptional students. Their achievements and dedication to serving others are truly inspiring,” Martha Franks said. “We are confident that they will continue to make a positive impact in their future endeavors. The Rotary Club is committed to supporting the education and development of young leaders in our community. These scholarships are just one way we strive to encourage and reward our local students' hard work and dedication.”
