Betty Janice Kight Starling

Betty Janice Kight Starling, 92, passed away on July 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. Betty was born to the late Edd and Minnie Kight on June 20, 1932, in Broxton, Georgia. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Henry (Bill) Starling, granddaughter Kelli Hardie, and brothers Willie Lee (Bill), Elijah Jacob (EJ), and George (Buck). Edward (Nig) Kight; sisters Jessie Mae Sweat, Cora Bell Wooten, Elva Spivey, and Lurlyne Young.

Survived by a sister Marie Mckinley, a son Richard (Cindy) Starling, a daughter Deborah (Randy) Hardie, grandchildren Kristie Hardie (Kyle Ralston, Jay (Amber) Hardie, (Mackenzie (Jeb) Gordon; Taylor Lavelle.

Great grandchildren Katelyn, Reana, Jay Jr., John Henry, Wallis, and Charles Henry. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, watching the Braves and figure skating on television, and cooking. She was known for her delicious pound cakes. She also loved the beach, walking for hours and collecting beautiful seashells. She loved her family and was loved by everyone who knew her.

Betty retired from the Putnam County Board of Education. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Eatonton.

She loved her church and church family. Her love for the Lord was so great that she would share the Gospel everywhere she went. Visitation was on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM, and service followed at 11:00 AM at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel. She was laid to rest following the service in Eatonton Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Vining Ivy Hill Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
