Mr. James Thomas Barnett, Jr., age 60, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta after a 16-month battle with Choroidal Melanoma.
James was born on March 6, 1964, in Greene County to Martha Edwards Meadows and the late James T. Barnett Sr. He was the stepson of the late A.A. Meadows.
James worked for the GA Department of Corrections for 23 years. He had been employed at Allied Security Service as a gate officer at Reynolds, Lake Oconee, for the past six years.
James was a family man, he loved reading, visiting family and friends.
James is survived by his mother, Martha Meadows, of Eatonton, sister Lisa Wooten and husband Jeff, of Eatonton, nephew Jeffrey “Buck” Wooten, of Eatonton, niece Anna R. Wooten, of Marietta, GA, and many aunts and cousins.
A private service for the family will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis TN 38101, for the research of Choroidal Melanoma in children, Children's Health Care of Atlanta Foundation, 1575 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329, or the website (give.chao.org).
