Putnam County school bus driver Willie Reid has been named Grand Marshal for Eatonton’s annual Christmas parade this year.
Reid has been driving a school bus for the Putnam County Charter School System for more than 56 years.
“Mr. Reid is such an inspiration to this community. He loves the students on his route,” Eatonton Main Street Manager Lauren Singleton said. “He is so proud to be a bus driver for the school system.”
The parade will depart at 6 p.m. on Dec. 14 from Putnam County Elementary School on South Washington Avenue. It will then make its way along Oak Street and up Jefferson Avenue through downtown before winding its way back down North Madison Avenue to return to the elementary school.
Following the parade, Santa Claus will climb down from his sleigh to join everyone on the front lawn of the Putnam County Courthouse, where he will be available for free photos with kids until 9 p.m.
