Martha Adams

Martha Jo Manley Adams, daughter of Emory Van & Dorothy Gregory Manley, was born November 21, 1930, in the Pea Ridge community of Putnam County and died February 10, 2025, at 94 

Martha was married to Eatonton native Edward I. Adams for 61 years until he died in 2008. They lived in Valdosta, GA, and Macon, GA, until they returned to Eatonton to live in the Adams home place in 2001. 

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, her second husband William I. “Billy” Waller, her sister Jane Manley Bonner, and her brother Larry G Manley. 

She is survived by her son Eddie and wife Susan Adams, daughter Dorothy Adams and husband Jim Bowden, and daughter Kathy and husband Mike Rainey. Martha was the proud and loving Grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Serving her family, friends, and community was her greatest joy.

Martha was a member of Eatonton Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She also served on the Foundation Boards of Putnam General Hospital and the Old School History Museum of Eatonton. Martha was a cheerleader and basketball player at Eatonton High School and the last surviving member of the Class of 1947.

The family will be available to greet friends on Friday, February 21st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 208 N. Maple Avenue, Eatonton.

The celebration of Martha’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. at Eatonton Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00, and the Rev. Jimmy Giddens will officiate.

The graveside burial will be private. Instead of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Old School History Museum, 305 N Madison Avenue, Eatonton, GA 31024, or to the Eatonton Presbyterian Church, PO Box 4121, Eatonton, GA 31024.
